There's a Heartbeat!

Thankfully yesterday I just pulled a ligament somewhere. The little bean is just fine and now (although it is hard) you can see the little bean! The doctor said the size is really good & also we got our first heartbeat! It was at 120, which is slow & normal for 6 wks 1 day. We'll go in again at the end of the month and it should be alot faster then.

The doctor put two '+' on the picture to show where the little bean is!

YAY!

Whoops

Lately I've been flopping around in my sleep quite a bit (Patrick says I've been talking wacky stuff too) and this morning I flopped soo much I pulled an ab-muscle or a ligament of some sort in there. I'm not too sure what I was dreaming about either! But anyways, the doctor wants to do an ultrasound today at 4 just to make sure everything is okay. So the good thing is that I'll have more pictures and hopefully I didn't do anything crazy ...
I'll keep you posted!!

We're 6 Weeks

So our little sweet pea has now hit 6 weeks. YAY! On Aug 30th (at 8 weeks) we're having another ultrasound to see how everything is going & find a heartbeat. Also to see what might be going on with the second little bean. It'll be hard to wait that long, that's for sure. I've only had one 'green' morning so far, and today was much better.
Patrick is working tons at the restaurant since we've been back & I've been buried at my own job. Thankfully the restaurant hasn't had me on too many night shifts this week, so tonight I'm probably going to spread out some more bark mulch in the gardens and cover up all the dry spots.
It's been 98-100 degrees all week in Burbank again and our grass is looking like a dry hay field instead of a green lawn, and that's with a sprinkler system! That's definitly one thing I miss about Maine, your grass hardly dies in the summer and it's covered with snow in the winter so no one knows or cares if it's patchy anyways :)
So that's the update so far. I hope everyone has a great week & I'll update soon!

Ultrasound Pictures!

YAY!

Our ultrasound today was really good; we're currently showing twins but it seems that the second little bean is only 1/4 the size of the bigger bean, so the Doctor said it'll most likely be re-absorbed in a week or two, and the pregnancy will be a singleton at the next ultrasound in 3 weeks. Although we would have been psyched with 2, both Patrick and I are soo excited for any number, that we're thrilled with one. The great thing is that I'm pulling strong progesterone numbers which will help me in the next few months.
So please take a peek! Little Davis is the black bean in the center with the whiter halo around him. Above about a centimeter & a tad off to the right, is the fraternal twin that unfortunately doesn't have the halo. But like I said, both Patrick and I are blessed with one & things happen for a reason for great things in the end.
Whoo hoo!! Our due date is April 9th, 2008.

4wk 6day Numbers

Well! I got my 4wk 6dy HCG & the new number is 3,193!
Trust me, our eyes are bugging out. I stopped by the Dr's office during lunch and the nurse said that while the HCG is quite high, the good thing is that the numbers are doubling at the minimum every 48-72 hours, a good sign of a strong pregnancy no matter how many muffins are cooking. So, I'll just have to simmer until tomorrow at 2:00. Well, probably 2:30 because doctor's are usually late & behind schedule... Thankfully he has lots of magazines in the waiting room...
Talk to you tomorrow!

We're Pregnant!

So now I can write a little more that we're back from Maine and the parents are all in the loop. Phew! Everyone knows how hard it is for me to keep a secret, I'm awful at it. I always spill Christmas and birthday presents early, so this was super hard. We surprised them with little cards that have champagne glasses cheering with milk congratulating them to be grandparents.

We're just 5 weeks along and very, very excited and super- surprised! After speaking with our doctor and checking my daily morning temperatures, we were pretty certain we would miss for July. But, if I followed the ovulation tests, we were right on. So it was difficult to figure out who was right. I'm soo happy the ovulation tests won!

My HCG numbers have returned relatively high:

3wk 4day - 145 HCG (early last week)
4wk 0 Day - 330 HCG (mid last week)

... and my progesterone 3wk 4day clocked in at a whopping 42.93! The great news is that the HCG numbers are more than doubling every 48 hours and my progesterone is high, which can lend to a really healthy pregnancy. We have a very early ultrasound scheduled for Thurs, Aug 9th at 2pm. I'll be 5wks & 1 day. My doctor says there's a great chance we can see sacs. There's a very big chance that there's more than one little muffin in the oven, given my first round of numbers are very high. Especially where I had the HSG 4 days earlier, and released a bunch of little eggs on the left side. Patrick and I will be totally thrilled with 1,2,3... Any number is perfect in our eyes.

Today I had another HCG test, checking the numbers and hoping for really really high ones at this point, where they should double & it's been a bit where we were in Maine. The new numbers should be in tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed for big numbers!! I'm also getting pretty good at getting my blood taken, I no longer gag. I found a 'secret location' for St. Joe's satellite lab that hardly anyone knows about - there's never a wait at all. If you go to the main lab, they don't even give you an estimated time of getting out. It's usually atleast an hour. So I go and visit my friend Nelly and she gets the little butterfly needle that doesn't kill me and I'm in and out in 10 minutes flat.

I can say the one little bummer is I was banned from Maine Lobster. I'm sure everyone who knows me knows how insane that was for me! Patrick had 4 lobsters & Mom had 2 - they were insane soft-shells too. But I got an italian sandwich with lots of olives, one of my other favs, to try go get through it all. I'll give up lobbys for a bit, no problem at all.

It's still very early, so lots of prayers and one day at a time.

Can't wait for Thursday! (its awesome to look forward to Thursday for another reason other than Survivor ....)
